Dr. Margaret Peterson, CCWP, DC

"I was born and raised in Enderlin, North Dakota. After I graduated from North Dakota State University and Utah College of Massage Therapy, I moved to Davenport, Iowa where I graduated in 2002 from Palmer Chiropractic College. In May of 2002, I opened Family Chiropractic & Massage. I was led to be a healing practitioner at the age of 16. I knew that I was to help people heal. I am greatly blessed by God to have received training and wisdom that can help others on their journey of health; which is why I have chosen to devote my life to the healing arts. I am grateful I did so because I have the chance to bring love, joy, and health to the people of our community, which impacts everyone’s life.

"My joys in life are my son, my motorcycles, learning new things, playing board games, and spending time with friends and family."

What is the most often asked question your clients have?
"One of the most often asked questions that our clients have that I experience, are questions on food. Either what something is, how to use it and what the benefits are. To help our clients in this, Dr. Maggie and I have developed a library of recipes that include over 150 recipes, possibly almost 200 at this point. They vary from degrees of how many steps there are and how many ingredients there are. But we always encourage our clients, to take recipes first as a template, substitute foods that are on your list that would work and adjust the portion sizes. Lastly, we really want them to have fun with their food. The more they play, the more this will develop as a lifestyle."

What is one of your favorite client success stories? "Just one of my favorite client success stories is one of our young mothers who was introduced to Metabolic Balance by her mom (who is also a client of ours). She really was struggling with her health after having COVID to the point of hospitalization and at the point decided she would take care of her health and body to be healthy again. Within her journey with Metabolic Balance, she lost about 80 pounds in a year as she took on her plan, found the flexibility within her plan to allow herself to continue to live life and enjoy a birthday cake piece at her daughters birthday party while having the mindset that about 90% of what she does is consistency with her plan and 10% are educated choices she makes for herself and knowing how/what that choice does for her body, or doesn’t do. She completely encompassed the lifestyle aspect of Metabolic Balance and added regular exercise for a year and had absolutely, amazing results. (We do have an amazing testimonial video with her!)"

What do you think is the biggest misconception about nutrition?
"One of the biggest misconceptions about nutrition is that good nutrition is “generated”. It’s generated into power bars, powders, “healthy foods”, etc. Often times we have to have a conversation with our clients and be sure they are prepared to work with whole foods (sometimes needing to define what whole foods are). I think in addition, whole foods are seen as healthy, but people don’t understand how to cook with them that provides them such good nutrients. It’s not exactly about misconception about nutrition, but these are some of the biggest barriers we deal with, with clients."

I have finally noticed a decrease in bloating in my abdomen

“I have finally noticed a decrease in bloating in my abdomen. No diet or exercise program I have ever done before has helped me reduce bloating. I definitely had some mild food sensitivities that I was unaware of. By following this plan and eating foods that are proven to best serve my body I have majorly reduce the bloating and inflammation in my body. I no longer feel tired! I used to drag myself out of bed, drag myself through the day, get home and crawl into bed. I had no energy or drive to want to do anything extra. Once I have been up and moving for about 20 minutes, I am awake, alert, and ready for my day. I stay in an awake and alert state throughout the day until I am ready to start winding down for bed."

MB has taught me that I do not need food for comfort or as a reward

"I have lost 30 lbs, the clothing sizes in my closet ranged from 12-6, I was always looking to cover up my stomach, I was frustrated and hated the way I looked.  I am now a size 4. More importantly I have learned that I can control my food intake, and how some foods make me feel.  For the last 20 years I have struggled with hot flashes and night sweats.  I sought medical advice for the hot flashes. I would explain to doctors that if I drank water I would immediately have a hot flash! Recently I visited family and consumed foods not on my phase 2 list within days I started having hot flashes again.  Amazing that certain foods trigger my bodies reaction.

"Metabolic Balance has taught me I am ok eating out, because I can control my food choices, the amount of food, and more importantly that I do not need food for comfort or as a reward. My reward is how I feel about my body, how I feel how I look in my clothing, in my increased interest in activities and my increased energy." - Margaret, 64 ~ Bismark, ND
